Hurricane Drunk - Florence and the Machine |
] |
For Christmas this year, I figured that I was giving myself the Porcupine Tree CD that I recently remembered Lewi saying would be out around my birthday this year. A little bit of research led me to see which CD this was but, before I could call up JB and ask about availability, wonderful Wiki oh-light-of-my-soul informed me of a couple of bonus tracks available on Japan copies and on iTunes, recorded during their live tour.
Live tour? says I, who have been regretting not going to their concert when they were last out here since... the last time they were out here.
So I says to myself, I says, don't worry about the fact that looking at the Palce website informed you that you missed out on the Florence and the Machine concert even as you sit here listening to her latest CD (:|) Instead, you shall focus on the idea of a new Christmas present in the making, and about $50 more dear than the previous incarnation of this idea.
Of course, there's a reason I haven't gone to any of these concerts since the HIM concert more than a year ago. That was well enough people in one place to make me completely twitchy for the next two days. But I don't figure that Porcupine Tree is known by as many people as HIM is... and... Palace Theatre is allocated seating, not everyone in a mosh pit at Festy Hall... right?
*looks at website again* Oh wait, it's where I saw Tegan and Sara, not Nightwish. *bites lip*
Alright, I'm grabbing this thing called courage and going for it!

| Christmas being offset by Awesome and a Mid-winter wish |

Settlement is looking to be January 4th which, unfortunately, is a Monday but, thankfully, is a Monday that is still covered underneath the general Christmas break for some.
I am off work until January 12th as the family I tutor for will be away on holiday until then, and I have already been told to take time off for the house move after that should I need it.
I have a pretty boy lying on his back on the bed blowing kisses at me. I have the Awesome Text Made Of Win in my phone that is still making me smile. I also have a new dress that I bought yesterday that will make my boys, and maybe some of the girls in my acquaintance, go 'guuh'...
It seems as though the Universe in a white fake beard and Santa had has looked in and evaluated the last 12 months, checked the 'nice' instead of 'naughty' box, and given me Christmas presents all at once.
Midwinter wish -- That next year be easier than this year, and that love and happiness continue to light the ways.

| Pilot |
[19 Dec 2009|07:01pm] |
It seems you can view twin peaks episodes on hulu and other sites, but I can't seem to find one that has the pilot available. Northwest Passage i believe its called. I'm not looking for something illegal, preferably something with commericials and not paying for an episode with a credit card and having to download the site's software.
Thanks much for any help!

The Sisters of Mercy - Doctor Jeep |
] |
Forgot to mention in my Lamb of God review that the crowd that night, at least in the first couple of rows, were the most courteous I've ever known. Between sets, the guy behind me asked if I was all right, and if he was bouncing around too much. Two guys moved aside to let me stand with Hannah - a position closer to the centre of stage - because we obviously knew each other. And another guy from behind did his best to tap me on the head to warn me of oncoming crowdsurfers. Seriously a fucking awesome bunch of people, and it's just a pity that the absolute slew of crowdsurfers had to ruin it.
And Hannah bought me beer. Don't know if I remembered to mention that.

Last night was the gloriously intense aural assault of Lamb of God and DevilDriver on Melbourne once more, joined by Shadows Fall and High on Fire.
( When their heroes let them down )
Thus ends the gigging for this year. First up in 2010, Rotting Christ, followed by Sonata Arctica the next day...

| this is how it works |
[14 Dec 2009|07:42pm] |
When something hurts you just do something else that hurts differently. You get a polio shot in your right arm, and you slap your left leg as hard as you can. Everything is awful but it all goes away, and it all works, it gets better.
The universe is shaped exactly like the Earth. You go straight long enough, you end up where you were.
In other news A and I did tie-dy on Sunday and I now have this top to show for it:
